H2 Energy Europe is a developer of large-scale green hydrogen ecosystems. Our projects cover different parts of the green hydrogen value chain from production, to distribution and consumption. Major green hydrogen production projects include a 1GW plant in Esbjerg, Denmark converting offshore wind power, and a 20MW plant in Milford Haven, South Wales. H2 Energy Europe is also rolling out a hydrogen filling station network with sites along major transport routes across Germany, Austria, and Denmark.
H2 Energy Europe is a joint venture between Trafigura and H2 Energy, established in 2021 to build green hydrogen ecosystems in Europe.
We are looking for a Project Manager to take a project leadership role in the development of Power-to-X Plants in the UK.
This role provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the energy transition in the fast-growing green hydrogen space. You will be working closely with a dynamic international team of technical / commercial personnel, you will provide expert project management leadership to lead the delivery of our UK PtX projects from FID to operating plants. You will add value across the project by proactively leading and guiding the development of the project, managing contractors and coordinating with stakeholders and partners. The role reports to H2 Energy Europe's Project Director and will be based in the UK and require weekly presence on site .
Responsibilities
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of H2 Energy's first UK PtX project to achieve planned quality, schedule, and cost targets
- Lead the UK project team and internal and external resources to ensure projects achieve their targets
- Ensure effective risk management and mitigation
- Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget
- Provide strong safety leadership to ensure effective HSE management, achieving accident-free project delivery
- Develop contracting strategies and ensure effective contractor management, working closely with procurement & contracting teams to manage contractor performance
- Coordinate with the procurement and technical teams to ensure effective contract and commercial management of contracts
- Support the development of effective supplier relationships and delivery of supply commitments
- Work closely with the business / technical functions to effectively manage risk and mitigate claims
- Represent H2 Energy with the highest professional and ethical standards
Desired expertise and skills
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- B.Sc./M.Sc. engineering degree
- Min 15 years working experience (depending on role) in direct project management of complex industrial facilities
- You have good leadership and communication skills
- You are highly motivated, have a structured, results-driven approach and are able to work independently
- Strong HSE management capability and leadership
- You are proactive in your approach and able to prioritise critical activities whilst managing a large portfolio of tasks
- You possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in various countries and cultures
- You have a positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Previous experience and/or understanding of the process and/or hydrogen industry is a plus
